Riek & Francis Potgieter started their trailer business (RIEK’S TRAILER HIRE) in July 2019, shortly after the birth of their first child, with only one cattle trailer. In faith & as the demand grew, they registered RIEK’S TRAILERS (Pty) Ltd. on 14 April 2020, just as COVID hit SA, and added the Sales, Services, Repairs, Parts & Accessories departments to the business. Today we are very proud that we are also MANUFACTURING our own trailers, after purchasing the manufacturing & building certificates, with 34 years of knowledge & experience, from the long standing and trusted Randall Brother’s company!
The idea came from Francis’ father, Coenraad Josephus Viljoen. Riek & Coenraad were sitting on a log, waiting for the tractor’s tyre to be repaired on his farm, and he gave Riek the idea of buying a Cattle Trailer to hire out as an extra source of income.
They say since this day GOD has blessed their business in ways that can only be described as “supernatural” and their motivation, as well as the business, is built on the bible verse Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”, which is also the RT slogan. Riek & Francis believe that providing a personal service to their customers is the very first step to building relationships that last. As Riek says to his staff very often; “If there are 10 people selling a loaf of bread and the product & price is the same, what will make them buy it from you” and we truly believe it is the personal service & attention to detail we give to our clients that make the difference.
